Binyag Arriba 09

Yesterday was the Binyag Arriba in Letran. It's their way of welcoming us, Freshmen, to the Colegio. Even though, I was sick (Yes, I had slight fever), I still went. Of course, it was our binyag, I wouldn't miss it for anything else.

The mass was held in the school grounds and the morning sun was killing us softly. It was so hot, it's as if they were torturing us, not welcoming but it was one way to make my block united. We were under our umbrellas while the priest was discussing his homily and we were not listening. Then after the mass, we were asked to line up for the different activities. Each one of us received an envelope containing a handbook, a rosary, a Letran pin, food stub and the Vision and Mission thingy. Then, they asked us to geneflect and they were like, bestowing us. Like, we were real Knights. And the only phrase I understood was Patria Deus Letran. Then, we were asked to line up again to ring the bell. Then after, we were under the sun again. The next stop was the petal thing. We were asked to bring out 1 peso for the petal. I didn't find it corny since it's part of our life at Letran. It's like a preface of a book or the opening credits of a movie. It's something we, Letranites, should remember.

Then after those things, we were given a map of the whole Colegio. There's free food, too. :) Then, we practiced the cheers with the upperclassmen and we waited for like, 30 minutes? For the declaration thing. And it was under the sun again. We recited our Colegio's creed.

I am a Letranite and I will continue to live my days as one for God, for the Fatherland and for my beloved Alma Mater, Letran. Arriba Letran!

Then the yelling started, water was sprinkled to us parang ambon lang but we got wet, too. It was really like a baptism. It was, indeed, a great experience to be in the Binyag Arriba. See, if I didn't go, I wouldn't write about it. Ha-ha. Then after, my blockmates and I, went out for a break. We ate lunch at a carinderia near Mapua and Lyceum since SM's a bit far and we were so lazy to walk until there. Half of our block was there, even the boys. :)

Then, after lunch, we were asked to go back to the Gymnasium for some activities. The presentation of the different organizations and the recruitment thing happened there. I joined the LIMO & Kable. I'm still deciding whether to join the Cheering Squad or not since the practice will be hectic and I like, live in Paranaque. So, I'm not yet decided. Ha-ha. All the IComm students, I think, were required to join LIMO, so I did. :) And since, I need it to. :)

So yeah. The Binyag Arriba was cool. Next activity: Pep Rally & the NCAA openings! :>
